Merry Christmas!
It seems I am off the hook for bringing a baked good for the school's Halloween event. I would do a little jig except I'm still supposed to bring the decorations. Have you ever tried to find decorations right before a holiday? You can't, and do you know why? Because all holidays are over before they even start.

So, Halloween? Done. Over. Yes, I know it hasn't actually even happened yet, but in the retail world, where most of us sadly live, it is over and Christmas is upon us. Thanksgiving, the red-headed step child of holidays, so cruelly wedged between the Festival of Sugar and the Feast of Plastic Toys and Scented Bath Gel, has a small showing on a shelf behind the last of the Halloween costumes and gore make up, totally outnumbered by the ubiquitous icicle lights and inflatable snowmen.

But I digress.

Any ideas where I can still get inexpensive decorations for the schoolyard? Think flat cardboard cutouts in the shapes of pumpkins, witches, ghosts and black cats. Also need streamers, cob webbing, etc.

Mer, my para cut out strips of black & orange construction paper and looped them together. We hung them around the room. Hanging from them we had the kids make jack-o-lanterns from black amd orange construction paper and other decorations. Also, if you get sticks you can glue white pieces of cloth to them and using a black marker make a ghost's face. Also, if you can get your hands on egg cartons and pipe cleaners, cut apart each little bump, paint or color with marker (black, of course) and using the pipe cleaners, make 8 legs.
